Ronde

Onboarding check-in

A weekly half hour in a newcomer's first months: what they learned, their goals, what they need and their questions.

  • Every week, 30 min
  • 10 min to speak, each

Free. Your first meeting starts from this template, and everything stays editable.

Who it’s for

Managers, buddies and HR teams welcoming new people, from the first week to the end of the trial period.

Why this format

  • Questions get askedA section for questions makes it normal to ask, even what feels obvious.
  • Progress becomes visibleWeek after week, what the newcomer learned shows how far they have come, for them and for their manager.
  • Needs are met earlyMissing access, tools or contacts are written down and sorted out in days, not weeks.

What everyone prepares

Before the meeting, each person fills in their check-in in a few minutes, from a computer or a phone. Here is one, as it looks in Ronde.

What I learned

  • How the release process works
  • Who to ask about invoices

My goals for next week

  • Ship my first fix
  • Shadow two customer calls
  • Read the security guide

What I need

  • Access to the analytics dashboard

My questions

  • How are priorities set between teams?

How a session runs

  1. IntroEveryone joins, in the room or on the call: the screen shows who is here and what is on the agenda.
  2. Round table10 min eachEach person in turn shares their check-in, with a timer; the others raise a hand, react or say thanks.
  3. Open topicsThe subjects raised along the way, with the decisions taken and the follow-up actions.
  4. Wrap-upThe minutes are ready: decisions, actions and their owners, everyone’s check-in.

Ready with this template

Each meeting turns modules on or off as it likes; these come switched on.

  • TimeboxA topic of its own on the agenda, with its own duration and its notes in the minutes.
  • Decision logEvery “Decision:” line of the notes, from every session, in one searchable list open to the whole team.

Tips to run it well

  • Keep the same slot every week for the first three months, then space the meetings out.
  • Read the first weeks' check-ins again at the end of the trial period: they make the review easy.
